Vocal Training for women/adults

Empowered Singing offers instruction to a wide range of adults, though mostly to female singers, at various developmental and skill levels. Our goal is to provide the foundation of proper vocal technique, while enhancing performance skills and styles. We do so by fostering the use of the principles of Classical, or Bel Canto, singing technique, in order to expand range and strength, and help each student craft a unique and sustainable style.

In lessons, students are led through various exercises and scales, and, if needed, they receive guidance on how to follow rhythm and tempo, and stay on-pitch.

Singers then learn more advanced vocal techniques, all aiming to nurture their beauty of tone, power, agility, ease and joy of singing, and reliability of the voice.

After practicing exercises, students refine their skills further, as they learn to apply the technique to their repertoire. And finally, they learn interpretation and style - simply put, they learn how to sing their songs better, all around!

This training is done in private, one-on-one lessons, or, if appropriate, and available, in group classes.

Vocal Training for YOunger voices (Tweens & Teens)

Empowered Singing works with teenagers, as well as some pre-teens, to provide the skills and confidence necessary for healthy and enjoyable singing, as a fun hobby, or for their upcoming auditions or performances - helping them become more skilled and polished singers.

We strive to make singing lessons and classes for middle and high school aged students fun and engaging, while teaching the basics, like breath support, pitch matching, good sound production, and clear diction - and then more advanced techniques, in order to enhance and adjust their tone and resonance. Finally, we work on style, interpretation and acting your song!

Private voice lessons, group classes, and eventually live performances, all help students learn how to sing in a comfortable atmosphere, no matter at what skill level they are, vocally.

Through consistent vocal training, including proper warm ups, exercises, song coaching, and performance techniques, students quickly improve, gaining the skills and confidence to perform successfully, whether solo, in a musical production, or in choir!

Vocal Rehabilitative Training

If what you need is help in healing your voice, after illness, overuse, or misuse, our rehabilitative training will give you techniques to repair and strengthen your voice. We will discuss why it can sound hoarse or get damaged, along with how to heal it through therapeutic use.

You will learn the core exercises that put strength and elasticity back into the vocal cords, culminating with recovery from most vocal injuries or ailments, including:

Recovering your voice after “going hoarse” - if you have “lost” your voice from over-singing or over-speaking;
Eliminating “frogginess” - regain clarity and focus in your sound;
Eliminating “cracking” in your voice - learn to blend “registers” and learn how to navigate breaks;
Recover from laryngitis by performing “physical therapy” on your voice;
Regain stamina, power, range, and clarity - in essence, get back to healthy singing after taking a hiatus, illness, or other health conditions!
